Do designers have a line?

Artists play very important role in the society. Not only do they set the trends but they can also influence the way of thinking or impose the ideologies. They have a right to shock and to be controversial. In fact, the more they shock, the more people talk about them and the more famous they become. But do they have any limits? There are certainly no limits when it comes to creativity but they need to fear the consequences of their works more than they love the cleverness or the ideas. Ethics should be always on the first place. ''Design has become the most powerful tool with which man shapes his tools and environments (and, by extension, society and himself).'' - Victor Papanek.
However, there are plenty of beautiful designs which are meant to harm and which are not bad designs at the same time. Some of them such as fish trap are just necessary for getting food and surviving eventhough through killing animals.
Eventhough a mouse trap is another example of practical and nice design, it is definitely against ethics. For me however it is not crossing a line. Ethics is not actually clear and it doesn't always show the right answer to moral problems. It is individual and concerned with the moral character of human being.

What about e-cigarettes? Iqos and its smart design is now widely popular among smokers all over the world. The idea of heating tobacco (instead of burning it) was developing for a long time untill it appeard in the shops. The levels of harmful chemicals are significantly reduced compared to a cigarette smoke but still - it is harmful for health. Is it an example of a bad design? It is ones choice to smoke or not and in my opinion it isn't.
OFFENSIVE DESIGNS
However, there are some examples of design which definitely shouldn't have come to light. At London Fashion Week, Burberry debuted a hooded sweatshirt in which the drawstrings were swapped out for a rope tied into a noose. It was evoking racial terror as well as suicide in times when there is a rising suicide rate world wide. What's more, this line was dedicated to young girls and youth.

Another luxurious brand - Gucci, unveiled a sweater with a design that resembled blackface. Black turtleneck, pulled up over a model's mouth and featuring a mouth cut-out emphasized by wide, bright-red lips. Offensive and racial. Designer should always remember that he impacts people who come in contact with the work and he can either help or hurt them with his actions. The effect of the design should always be a key consideration of the work.

THE MOST DEADLY WEAPON ON EARTH
An object that is meant to harm people is always a bad design. The nuke is meant to spread terror, deaf and destruction. It is the biggest danger that our civilisation has to deal with in order to prevent it from getting into the wrong hands. The symbol that the world remembers is the cloud of dust and aerosols which was over 12 kilometer wide which appeared during tests in 1945. .
