JIBO

Robot called JIBO is the first social robot in the world. It is a three dimensional and fully communicative device. It was designed in order to help family members through the whole day. This friendly and helpful robot takes photos, reminds of taking medicines, reads fairytales for the kids and many more. In order to draw his attention you need to first say ''Hey Jibo'' and then he can either set your alarm clock, predict the weather, read the news or do basic homework from maths. It can be adjusted to your own needs. He has also been designed to be a fun, friendly companion. Jibo will ask to take a photo of you so that he can recognize you later. He will also want to ask you some questions in order to know you better. He is equipped with video-calling and Wi-Fi connectivity.

It is very cartoon like and looks a little bit like Pixar lamp. Maybe that's because the person who designed it is a Disney animator. It doesn't have legs but can easily move his flexible head. Jibo has a round monitor with a big, blinking eye. It's 28 centimeters tall and weighs 3 kilograms. It also has a voice which sounds like a ten year old boy and this makes it less threatening. The whole construction has really realistic movement but it is definitely not human like. Otherwise it could be creepy for some people. Robot is also equipped with sensors which make him sensitive to touch so he will respond when someone touches him, makes noise or laughs.

Jibo is a great gadget that for sure would make life easier but it not only would worsen interpersonal relationships but also make people more lazy and dependent on electronical devices.
